Interstellar 10
St Peter’s Cathedral Music Foundation Concert Series is proud to announce a special event for September: Interstellar 10.
Interstellar was an extraordinary film, not least because of the spectacular score by Hans Zimmer which made a particular feature of the organ. Roger Sayer, Director of Music at Temple Church in London, played a crucial part of creating this memorable score, and we are thrilled that as Interstellarcelebrates its 10th anniversary, we are able to welcome Roger to tell us about the process of creating this wonderful organ music, that has inspired countless people around the world.
In addition, Roger will wow the audience with the full scope or our grand cathedral organ, with space-related music, such as the the foreboding Also sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss, which Stanley Kubrick famously used to open the revolutionary film 2001: A Space Odyssey; and stirring excerpts from Gustav Holst’s Planets.
Don’t miss this rare chance to hear this extraordinary music, including an opportunity for Questions & Answers with Roger Sayer about the creation of the Interstellar soundtrack; all in the spectacular acoustical surrounds of St Peter’s Cathedral, with a large screen to see the organ being played.
Tickets are specially priced at $30 adult, $20 concession and $15 under 18- make sure your science-fiction or film-music loving friends and family don’t miss this unique experience!
